Renaissance West Community Initiative (RWCI), the lead organization overseeing the revitalization of the former Boulevard Homes community, will provide an overview of the effort to turnaround the once challenged neighborhood, now called The Renaissance. The long-term goal of the initiative is to improve economic mobility through a two-generation strategy that includes mixed-income housing, high-quality cradle-to-career educational opportunities, and supportive services. This effort is the first comprehensive place-based initiative of its kind in Charlotte and is based on the successful revitalization of a similarly challenged neighborhood in Atlanta, the Villages of East Lake.
Discussion will be led by Laura Clark – RWCI Executive Director, Todd Mansfield – RWCI Co-Chair, Crescent Communities, Dionne Nelson – RWCI Co-Chair, David Jones – RWCI Board Member, Troutman Sanders and John Culbertson– RWCI Board Member, Cardinal Real Estate Partners, sharing their vision for the revitalization as well as successes and lessons learned thus far.
