CMS Superintendent Dr. Heath Morrison speaks at ULI Clt Sponsors Breakfast

ULI Charlotte hosted its Spring Sponsors Only Breakfast on Friday, May 31, at Charlotte Country Club with guest speaker Dr. Heath Morrison, Superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Morrison joined CMS in 2012 and set out to identify areas for growth in the district. He spoke about the eight goals for continued student growth and achievement he developed from his time of learning and listening about the district. He stressed the importance of effective teaching and leadership, calculated use of technology and options of learning environments conducive to the varying needs of students.
Morrison also emphasized the importance of community support and involvement in CMS. He pointed out the need for educators, government leaders and community members to be open to change that helps the educational system evolve to meet the needs of Charlotte’s growing population and diversity. One goal he has for CMS is to strengthen and expand the portfolio of choices that foster creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, and stated that the district is open to opportunities of Public Private Partnerships in order to provide alternative educational environments from the more traditional classroom setting.
