Development 101 - An Introductory Course for the Public Sector

This is an introductory course that is designed for public sector employees, elected and appointed officials, that interact with private-sector real estate decision makers.
This course will take place:

PROGRAM
ULI Charlotte’s Development 101 course is designed to provide you with a basic understanding of how private-sector real estate financial decisions are made and also to give a better understanding of how government policies and tools influence private-sector decisions.

- Real Estate as an Investment
- Determining Property Cash Flow, Risk, and Return
- Simple Real Estate Valuation Techniques
Simple Decision and Valuation Analysis of Development Projects
SPEAKERS
Dr. Read joined the Belk College of Business in 2007 and he currently serves as both the Director of the Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte and the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program. His primary teaching responsibilities include courses in real estate development, finance, and law.
Dr. Read’s research interests include housing, land use policy, and public-private partnerships. His published work can be found in journals such as the American Review of Public Administration, Economic Development Quarterly, Real Estate Finance and Economics, and Urban Affairs Review.
