Leadership Meet to Discuss Our Future
Over 30 of ULI Charlotte’s leadership members participated in a retreat on Wednesday to reflect on our present mission and activities, while contemplating the future. We are proud to have a strong District Council with robust programming and activities. Some of the highest rated ULI Charlotte activities are the regular CoffeeTalks – a program that has evolved into discussions around specific projects in our community. Likewise, the regional activities (including the Carolinas’ Meeting and Regional Initiative Councils) have created an opportunity for our members to expand their network and education beyond the Charlotte boundaries. Ron Kimble, 2014-2016 ULI Charlotte Chair, reflected back on how ULI has been instrumental in addressing land use conversations with local TAPs (such as with the Exit 27 Study) and National Advisory Panels (such as the upcoming panel on South Park).
Rob Cochran, 2016-2018 ULI Charlotte Chair, invited Brian Collier, Executive Vice President for the Foundation for the Carolinas, to inspire our leaders to think beyond our norm. Brian presented areas of focus their organization is involved in (see the information and research by clicking here), touching on areas such as education, mentorship, aging in our community and creating communities that enable residents to thrive.
While our leaders digest the discussions over the next month, we will be focusing our efforts in four areas:
- Engagement (in our community)
- Research and Case Studies
- Best Practices/Policy Education
- Mentorship
Task forces are being created to set our course for the next two years, including discussions around leveraging our members’ expertise, education/programming, and research activities. Watch for more information as our 2016-2018 work plan evolves. If you have questions or would like to be more involved in these discussions, please contact [email protected].
