The ULI Etkin Scholars Program (download brochure), made possible by the philanthropic support of Bruce Etkin, introduces college and university students to the resources available through ULI membership and seeks to integrate those students into the ULI path of learning. Through this program, ULI District Councils identify a cohort of graduate and undergraduate students and provide them with a welcoming and concrete entrée into ULI knowledge at the local and national levels with funding support, free ULI student membership, creative programming, networking, and learning opportunities throughout the academic year of their scholarship. The students supported through this program shall be recognized as Etkin Scholars.
This program begins with the 2021-2022 school year, when five ULI District Councils in the U.S. and Canada will participate: Atlanta, Baltimore, British Columbia, Charlotte, and Colorado.
The application is open now. Spots remain open, and the application will be open for rolling admission through Friday, October 7, 2022.
Bruce Etkin, is a ULI Trustee and member of the ULI Foundation board. This generous gift continues Mr. Etkin’s support and passion for the next generation of real estate leaders through ULI’s educational programming. Mr. Etkin is a member of the James Rouse Society.
To be eligible to participate in the Program, Etkin Scholars must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at a college or university in region covered by one of the five ULI District Councils listed above. Students ideally (but not necessarily) are actively pursuing a career in real estate and studying real estate, finance, architecture, planning, urban design or other disciplines related to land use.
Students will be selected for participation for at least a one-year term as an Etkin Scholar in a District Council cohort based on the following attributes:
• Academic standing
• Professor recommendation
• Commitment to the principles of ULI
• Leadership potential
• Commitment to and/or advancement of ULI’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals
Students may apply for additional years as an Etkin Scholar if they continue to meet the program qualifications.
