ULI Carolinas’ Meeting Welcomes 700+ To Raleigh
February 28, 2019
More than 700 real estate professionals from across the Carolinas gathered in Raleigh on February 11 and 12 for the 6th annual Carolinas’ Meeting.
The theme for the meeting was “Future-Proofing for Tomorrow’s Reality” Below are a few highlights from the meeting.
- Keynote sessions included a discussion with futurist Jack Uldrich on the trends shaping the future of business, the current and future state of transportation with Zipcar Co-Founder Robin Brown, and a discussion on public-private partnerships providing enhanced community resiliency for single family, multi-family and mixed use development with George Karayannis of Panasonic’s CityNOW Initiative.
- The learning and sharing of ideas continued with concurrent sessions featuring topics such as evolving capital markets, creative placemaking via non-traditional anchors, innovations in workplace development and the importance of community engagement in authentic community development.
- The meeting concluded with the popular “Crane Watch” which offered a look at development trends in the Carolinas. The panel featured six of the hottest projects under construction today (Freedom Apartments, Charlotte, NC; The Jasper, Charleston, SC; BullStreet District, Columbia, SC; VanAlen Apartments, Durham, NC; Peace, Raleigh, NC; Apex SouthPark, Charlotte, NC). In this fast-paced session, presenters shared lightning-quick case studies focused on what made each project distinct, challenging and cool. Together these projects present an impressive display of interesting, diverse and cutting-edge projects under construction across the Carolinas.
