The event is for NEXT members (ages 35-45) only. Leadership Connection allows NEXT members to speak directly with leaders and hear their background, career path and lessons learned. Hosted by Choate, this summer’s Leadership Connection features Matt Doherty. Refreshments will be provided.
Matt is a former college basketball coach, nationally recognized motivational speaker, and best-selling author (his 2021 book titled “Rebound: From Pain to Passion - Leadership Lessons Learned”).
Since being a part of the 1982 National Championship team with Michael Jordan at UNC, his journey has included Head Coach at Notre Dame and the UNC Tar Heels, 2001 ACC Regular Season Championship, AP National Coach of the Year in 2001, Head Coach at FAU and SMU, in addition to working with ESPN, the Indiana Pacers, and the Atlantic 10 Conference.
In 2003, he embarked on a mission to "learn and grow" by beginning a leadership journey that took him to the UVA Darden School of Business and The Wharton School. Coach Doherty is committed to sharing universal teachings and actionable ideas that will work for anyone and has worked with corporations, C-suite managers, sales executives, and business and sports coaches to develop their leadership skills and team dynamics.
