RECAP - Gut Check: What’s Happening in Real Estate?
On March 25, ULI Charlotte hosted a virtual panel discussion to discuss the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on real estate.
As a project executive, David Hamilton is a builder. But he is also a builder of lives. For David, the most satisfying part of his job is “helping others achieve their goals.” Whether he’s mentoring young professionals, kids in the Charlotte Future Leaders program, or doing missionary work in Honduras, David enjoys lifting others up.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, David attended Milligan College where he met his wife Denise their freshman year. He later received his Civil Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, followed by an EMBA from Jacksonville University. After 22 years there, he rose to Executive Vice President at Elkins Constructors in Savannah, GA.
David joined Batson-Cook Construction in Charlotte four years ago, where he relishes problem solving. A recent challenge was working with a church to develop a 27-acre site that contained an abandoned borrow pit. He and his team were tasked with utilizing the pit for water retention while minimizing imported fill and maximizing parking density.
David appreciates the challenge that ULI’s projects, trends, and initiatives present. More important, ULI helps David help others. “We have always believed in investing in our industry, our communities, and our people. ULI provides a great opportunity to do all,” he says. After all, “Success isn’t what you achieve or accumulate, it’s what you leave behind.”
David and Denise are proud to have a son and a daughter, as well as three grandsons. When he’s not on the golf course or out on a run, he enjoys reading books about leadership and personal integrity.
