Kyle Baugh has worked as a professional Landscape Architect/Urban Designer at Charlotte-based Kimley-Horn for eight years. He specializes in creating places that add value to the community or private entity. A Purdue University alum, he came to Charlotte from Martinsville, Indiana. Kyle enjoys creating livable, sustainable developments and spaces that add value to the overall community.
Last October, Kyle was married to “a southern girl.” He stays fit at the Dowd YMCA, loves taking the dogs to Freedom Park, and enjoys traveling. In fact, Kyle’s favorite place to vacation is Railay Bay in Thailand. When asked who he most admires, Kyle answers his “late grandfather (as he) was always the role model in my life. . . He was a man of great pride and integrity, as well as hard-working and humble. Until the day he died, he always had a smile on his face and knew the most important thing in life should always be family.”
Kyle has been involved with ULI since 2008 and served several years as the program chair for the Young Leaders Group. He believes ULI is important because it represents what he believes in. It embodies responsible land development and sustaining thriving communities. “We, for so long in the industry, were going in the wrong direction. ULI is a part of the solution; giving individuals the guidance and the tools necessary to shift and refocus on doing the right thing and still being successful. It is important to remember what we are doing today will affect millions in the future. As a national leader in land development, it is also important to Kimley-Horn that we not only be involved, but also sponsor the efforts of ULI. As a firm, we believe that ULI’s objectives align with ours and as a top ranked sustainable design firm, we understand that we are setting an example by not just preaching, but by practicing as well.”
One of Kyle’s goals for the future is making an impact to a community in Charlotte through a non-profit organization. Kyle just joined the ULI Charlotte Advisory Board and we look forward to working with him to achieve his and ULI’s shared goal of impacting the community.
