Philip Payne Confirmed as New ULI Charlotte Chair

Effective January 1, 2019, Philip Payne of Ginkgo Residential will become the ULI Charlotte Chair, following Debra Campbell’s recent resignation due to a job change and relocation to Asheville, NC.
The ULI Charlotte Governance Committee, which consists of present and past chairs of the District Councils, public sector members and longtime members of ULI, issued a call for interest for the Chair position while actively qualifying members. After discussing candidates, the Governance Committee nominated Philip Payne as the new ULI Charlotte Chair. The Committee believes Philip’s perspective will offer a unique opportunity for growth of the District Council. Ed Walter, ULI Interim Americas CEO and by Jack Chandler, ULI Americas Chairman, confirmed the nomination.
Philip Payne is a principal at Ginkgo Residential, a middle market multifamily firm, as well as chairman and co-founder of The Lotus Campaign, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the availability of housing for the homeless. Philip is a ULI Trustee and Governor, is a member of the Responsible Property Investing Council (founding Chairman), a former co-chairman of ULI’s Climate, Land Use and Energy Committee and a past member of the advisory board for ULI’s Center for Sustainability. He is active in the District Council, serving on the advisory board, providing input on affordable housing and serving as a chair for a local TAP.
