Public Private Partnerships (P3s): Enhancing the Community
Public Private Partnerships (P3s) come in all forms: from infrastructure, public space, and encouraging development in revitalizing areas. In the “new economy,” these partnerships become even more important to furthering our community. The private sector, in the role as civic leaders, can take the lead in setting the vision for large areas of a city, or even the entire city. Can – or should – the private sector take on this role and the capacity to engage the entire community, at a time when public resources and capacity are limited? Learn about successful P3s for enhancing our community from this dynamic panel:
- Johnny Harris, President and CEO, Lincoln Harris, will talk about TreesCharlotte and how this P3 has been created to enhance the tree canopy in Charlotte;
- Peter Pappas, Founder, Pappas Properties, will share his knowledge and practical experience with placemaking and community development, hallmarks of Pappas Properties;
- Michael Lemanski, Director, Development Finance Initiative, UNC School of Government, will discuss the nuances of P3 financing.
The program will be moderated by Ron Kimble, Deputy City Manager, City of Charlotte.
