This conversation will focus around creative placemaking. Charlotte currently lags behind other cities of its scale with regard to a lack of robust retail in the CBD. So how can Charlotte take advantage of this retail reset, and the current consumer tolerance for engaging in test & try scenarios, to come out of this stronger than before? How can the city and developers ‘lean in’ to help their retail tenants? Can the identification of underutilized “flex zones” be leveraged to help restaurants & retailers achieve capacity while maintaining safe practices?
