ULI Charlotte Appoints Vice Chair for Young Leaders Group
September 18, 2009
The Charlotte District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI Charlotte) is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Adams McMillan to Vice Chair for the Young Leaders Group (YLG).
“Elizabeth understands the high level of quality that we strive for in the YLG and she has the work ethic, background and leadership ability required to improve that level of quality and improve member value in the coming years” said Stuart Proffitt, Chair for the Young Leaders Group. He added, “She will be instrumental in positioning the YLG for the future.”
Elizabeth’s involvement in ULI started after graduation from UNC-Chapel Hill, when she went to work with Crescent Resources in Washington, DC. During her tenure in DC, she attended multiple real estate classes hosted by ULI and earned her ULI Real Estate Development Certificate. While her degree was in journalism and mass communications, these classes taught her “Real Estate 101.” A Gastonia native, she moved back to Charlotte three years ago but stayed with Crescent Resources as a Project Manager in the Commercial Division. She has been in the industry for 7 years and was glad to “come back home” to the Charlotte region.
Her most current claim to fame is managing Belgate, the IKEA centered development in the University Area. She has coordinated efforts to transform that site from an industrial area to the master-planned retail node it is today.
She is not one to sit back and let things happen, but she is keenly observing and taking notes for her upcoming role as Chair of YLG. According to Allen Prichard, Chair of ULI Charlotte, “Elizabeth knows how to develop consensus; she’s demonstrated great leadership ability. She will be a tremendous asset to growing the YLG, and ULI membership in general, and overall benefiting ULI Charlotte.”
