UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging, and academically demanding classroom-based curriculum in which students learn about the fundamental forces that affect development. Its mission is to cultivate a sophisticated level of discourse among local stakeholders involved in land-use decisions through the education of tomorrow’s voters and leaders as a way to create better communities. Take a look at the Urban Plan website to learn more, including a few short videos.
Volunteers serve either as a Facilitator, who challenge students to improve their proposals, or a City Council Member, who selects a recipient for the request for proposals. There is no financial commitment, but it will require a time commitment of up to 3 hours for each volunteer shift.
Volunteers gain lifelong connections with fellow community leaders and cultivate the next generation of industry leaders. UrbanPlan makes our community stronger by helping to educate tomorrow’s voters, neighbors, community leaders, and land use professionals on the needs and desires of the public and to market forces.
