Described as the next new growth submarket, the Charlotte Airport area has great potential.  To a sold out crowd, Crescent Communities’ Brian Leary, Lincoln Harris’ Tracy Dodson and Charlotte Airport’s Stuart Hair discussed a development strategy around the airport, along with new commercial and residential development on a large piece of the vacant land near the airport.  Some of the quick facts about the new “River District” and the Economic Development Study by the Charlotte Airport includes:

• Charlotte Douglas Airport has over $12B annual economic impact to the City of Charlotte;
• Charlotte Douglas Airport is the 7th busiest airport;
• There is 1700 acres of developable land that is non airport facilities;
• Over 40% of the River District will never be developed & will be preserved;
• The River District is not a project or site.  It’s a place with global reach.
