    YLG members are invited to take an inside look at Crosland Southeast’s Commonwealth project in Plaza Midwood. Come see how construction is going on the mid-rise office building, which will house over 150,000 sq. ft. of Class A office space, and have a 383-unit luxury apartment complex, complemented by 100,000 SF of experiential retail and restaurant space. 

    The tour will be led by Crosland Southeast’s Bobby Speir, Senior Vice President of Mixed Use Investment, and John Lineberger, Associate, and Nuveen’s Jessica Trombold, Head of Mixed-Use Partnerships, and Alex Wilson, Associate, Mixed-Use Investment.

    Note: The is a hard hat tour held at an active construction site. Please wear long pants and sturdy close-toed shoes. PPE will be provided but if you have a hard hat/PPE, please bring it.

    Bobby Speir

    Senior Vice President, Crosland Southeast

    As a Senior Vice President of Mixed-Use Investment, Bobby is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and managing acquisition opportunities for Crosland Southeast. He has spent his career focused on real estate development and acquisitions, most recently serving as Lead Fund Manager of UNC Kenan-Flagler’s real estate private equity fund. Prior to business school, Bobby served as Director of US Real Estate for Krispy Kreme, where he managed new store development and asset management for Krispy Kreme’s domestic real estate portfolio. He began his career as a financial analyst and investment associate for Burroughs & Chapin, Inc., a real estate development and investment firm headquartered in Myrtle Beach, SC. Speir is a member of the Urban Land Institute, where he is a contributing author, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Speir earned a Masters of Business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in Real Estate and Corporate Finance, where he was the recipient of the Trammel Crow/Leonard Wood Fellowship, a Dean’s Fellow, and the lead fund manager for the student led real estate investment fund. Speir is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

    John Lineberger

    Development Associate, Mixed-Use Investment, Crosland Southeast

    John is a Mixed-Use Investment Associate responsible for managing the mixed-use portfolio and underwriting new acquisitions and development opportunities. Prior to joining Crosland Southeast, John worked in multi-tenant retail investment sales with Berkeley Capital Advisors where he underwrote, valued, and helped manage the dispositions of shopping centers across the southeast. He then returned to school and earned an MBA with a Commercial Real Estate focus from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business school before joining CSE in 2021. John spends the evenings and weekends with his fiancée and two big dogs.

    Jessica Trombold

    Head of Mixed-Use Partnerships, Nuveen Real Estate

    Jessica joined Nuveen Real Estate in 2018 and is based in Nuveen’s Charlotte office. She is responsible for leading national mixed use partnerships and oversees national retailer engagement, investor relations and joint venture partnerships for Nuveen’s $1.0bn mixed use portfolio. Jessica has fourteen years of experience in real estate investment, development and finance. Prior to joining Nuveen Real Estate, she spent five years at Pyramid Hotel Group in Boston, MA, most recently as Manager of Business Development and Acquisitions. Jessica managed the acquisition team and focused on national hotel transactions and hotel development projects. She led the due diligence and acquisition of several multi-billion hotel portfolios. Prior to her time at Pyramid Hotel Group, Jessica worked as a Consultant at FTI Consulting in the company’s Boston, MA office and was focused on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy advisory in the retail industry. Jessica graduated with a B.A. in Finance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of ULI and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

    Alex Wilson

    Investment Manager, Nuveen Real Estate

    Alex is responsible for the underwriting, closing, and active management of new and existing mixed-use and retail development & investments for Nuveen, while assisting with capital raising and strategy ideation. His current portfolio consists of over $750M of assets across the U.S. Prior to joining the firm, Alex was a member of CBRE’s Southeast Institutional Debt & Structured Finance team, where he represented clients in sourcing and structuring debt & equity capital for large-scale commercial real estate developments & investments. He worked with clients throughout the Southeast and greater U.S. to raise over $1.5B across all property types, with a focus on office and mixed-use assets. He started his career in Investment Banking with Stephens Inc. Alex graduated with a B.S. in Engineering Science from Vanderbilt University.
