On October 17-18, 2016, a panel of ULI Charlotte members participated in a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) around the Tom Hunter Light Rail Station. Engaged by University City Partners with support of a Knight Foundation grant, the panel spent a day-and-a-half meeting with stakeholders, residents, and businesses in the area, then providing recommendations around the following questions:
- What is the feasibility for development of the Parks Chevrolet Site?
- Are there any specific property types that should be considered to serve the community in this location?
- What municipal services/investments would be ideal to serve existing and future populations that access this station?
- What is the best to implement the plan?
- What development incentives should be pursued to facilitate land use vision?
The panel was led by Phil Payne, Ginkgo Residential, and included Dave Malcolm, McAdams; Jay Levell, White Point Partners; Alysia Osborne, Historic West End/Charlotte Center City Partners; and Bill Lawrence, Cityscope (from Providence, RI). Following deliberation, the panel presented their recommendations at the Sugar Creek Library. Click here for the summary PowerPoint from the day.
Within six weeks, a more detailed report will be presented to University City Partners.
